The Cove is a 2009 American documentary film that describes the annual killing of dolphins in a National Park at Taiji, Wakayama, in Japan from an anti–dolphin-hunting campaigner’s point of view.The film highlights that the number of dolphins killed in the Taiji dolphin hunting drive is several times greater than the number of whales killed in the Antarctic, and reports that 23,000 dolphins and porpoises are killed in Japan every year in the country’s whaling industry. The migrating dolphins are herded into a hidden cove where they are netted and killed by means of spears and knives over the side of small fishing boats.
Après s’être fait connaître dans les années 60 par la série Flipper, l’ex-dresseur de dauphins Ric O’Barry est aujourd’hui un défenseur acharné des cétacés. A Taiji, au Japon, il se mobilise contre le massacre de plusieurs milliers de dauphins par an, perpétré à l’abri des regards.
Avec l’équipe de l’Oceanic Preservation Society, O’Barry entreprend de révéler la vérité sur Taiji au monde entier. Malgré l’hostilité de la police locale et des pêcheurs, O’Barry et ses complices réunissent une équipe de choc : cadreurs et preneurs de sons sous-marins, spécialistes d’effets spéciaux, océanographes et plongeurs en apnée réputés se lancent dans une opération secrète destinée à rapporter des images de la petite baie isolée…

Hunt saboteurs take action where it counts in the killing gields to save the lives of thousands of hunted animals every season. From using hunting horns and voice calls to run off with the hounds at foxhunts, to standing in front of the shooting butts on the grouse moors, to wading through the rivers at minkhunts, wherever animals are being hunted for fun, hunt saboteurs are there, protecting wildlife from the „sportsmen“ who get their kicks from killing.
