Bin Dokuz Yüz Seksen Dört, George Orwell tarafından kaleme alınmış alegorik bir politik romandır. Hikayesi distopik bir dünyada geçer. Anti-Ütopya romanlarının ünlülerindendir. Romanın anti-ütopik dünyasında, totaliter bir merkezi tek Parti’nin yönetiminde korku, propaganda ve beyin yıkama ile halk ve hayatı manipüle edilmektedir. Roman daha sonra ünlenecek Büyük Birader ve Düşünce Polisi gibi kavramları içermektedir.

Published in 1949, is a dystopian novel about the totalitarian régime of the Party, an oligarchical collectivist society where life in the Oceanian province of Airstrip One is a world of perpetual war, pervasive government surveillance, public mind control, and the voiding of citizens’ rights. In the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue), protagonist Winston Smith is a civil servant responsible for perpetuating the Party’s propaganda by revising historical records to render the Party omniscient and always correct, yet his meagre existence disillusions him into rebellion against Big Brother, which leads to his arrest, torture, and conversion.

The following short film shows how the German government is expanding its surveillance methods over the population.The dimensions the whole subject has assumed so far is at least scary! Welcome to the German ‘1984′. Germany HAS BECOME a Big Brother State! The right-wing government has been increasing step by step the collection of information about the German population: all internet communication is registered, information about (mobile) phone calls is stored, biometric data are now stored centrally by the state, surveillance cameras are being installed step by step in German towns, etc etc…. Each German citizen is now a potential terrorist, a potential pedophile, a potential corrupt, a potential Che Guevara, and so on….

But where is the problem about this? Ultimately, you just have to be a good consumer and the whole thing is not that bad… Isn’t?

What is happening in German is happening in whole of Europe, in some countries more intense than in other, in some more obviously than in others. But this reality has to change! It is about our freedom to think, to move, to act, to decide, etc… It is about DEMOCRACY!

kısa çalışmada adı geçen  veren “big brother” kavramı orwell’ in 1984 romanından alınma.

romanın anti-ütopik dünyasında, totaliter bir merkezi tek parti’nin yönetiminde korku, propaganda ve beyin yıkama ile halk ve hayatı manipüle edilmektedir. roman daha sonra ünlenecek “büyük birader” ve “düşünce polisi”  gibi kavramları içermektedir.

günümüzde “terör” bahane edilerek kamusal alana yerleştirilen kameralarla toplumun her bir bireyi krimanilize edilmekte, bir suçlu gibi izlenmektedir. bunun dayandırıldığı sebep toplum güvenliği olmakla beraber, sadece sistemin totaliterleşmesine ve bir polis devleti aygıtına dönüşmesini hızlandırmaya yaramaktadır.

sadece kameralarla değil, günün her anında hayatlarımızın çeşitli evrelerinde rastladığımız sözde güvenlik tedbirleriyle toplanan kişisel verilerin nerede ne şekilde kullanıldığı ise müphemdir.

unutmamakta fayda var: ” sözde bir güvenlik için, temel özgürlüklerini feda edenler, ne özgürlüğü ne de güvenliği hak eder”.

the big brother state is an educational film about what politicians claim to be protection of our freedom, but what we refer to as repressive legistation.

with the laws, which are aiming “national security” goverments aim at another goal:the states gaining more and more control of their citizens at the cost of our privacy and freedom.

don’t forget: the people willing to trade freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.

George Orwell’ın, aynı adlı romanından uyarlanan ve ‘büyük birader’, ‘düşünce polisi’ gibi kavramları dünya diline kazandıran “1984” filmi…

George Orwell’in, “büyük birader sizi izliyor” önermesi nedeniyle tam da günümüzle uyuşan, karanlık bir kehanet niteliği taşıyan romanı 1984, 2. Dünya Savaşı’nın acılarının henüz dinmediği bir dönemde yazılmış ve geleceğe dair hiç umut vaat etmeyen tezleriyle büyük yankı uyandırmıştı.

Filmde; iktidarların insanın bedeni, hürriyeti, psikolojisi ve ruhu üzerinde oluşturduğu dejenerasyon çok iyi tasvir ediliyor. 1984’teki 3 devletten biri olan Okyanusya’da Doğruluk Bakanlığı’nda çalışan Winston Smith, ülkenin tek ve egemen partisinin prensiplerine aykırı olarak, yaşadığı düzene muhalif düşünce, türlü işkencelere maruz kalır. Kitleleri kendine üye olmaya mecbur eden zorba partisiyle, kişinin yalnız dünyasında adeta kendi gerçekliğinden bile şüphe ettireceği Okyanusya’sıyla, düşünenlerin suçlu bulunarak buharlaştırıldığı bir dünyada bulur kendini. Bu düzenin hakim olduğu dünyanın en önemli unsuru ise sık sık Büyük Birader’in gözüktüğü TV ekranıdır.

Orwell, Büyük Birader’in kaba kuvvet aracılığı ile enformasyon akışını ve dolayısıyla benlikleri denetim altına alacağını öne sürerken oldukça haklıymış. Çünkü, insanların boğazlarına kadar eğlenceye, algılayamayacakları kadar çok enformasyona doyurulduğu bugünün dünyasında, iktidarlar aracılığı ile akışına bilinçli bilinçsiz kapılıp gittiğimiz, egemen kültürün bize sunduğu, etkin bir birey olarak yer almadığımız, ve kendi rızamızla kabul ettiğimiz, taraftarı, hatta mobeseler sayesinde warhol’un da söylediği gibi belki de farkına bile varmaksızın 15 dk’ lığına “bir yerlerin” meşhuru olduğumuz bir dünya var.

In the year 1984, rocket bombs and rats prey on the inhabitants of the crumbling metropolis of London. Far away on the Malabar Front, a seemingly interminable war rages against Eastasia. The Ministry of Truth broadcasts ceaselessly to the population via its inescapable network of telescreens. These devices, which pervade all aspects of peoples’ lives, are also capable of monitoring their every word and action. They form part of an elaborate surveillance system used by the Ministry of Love, and its dreaded agents the Thought Police, to serve their singular goal: the elimination of `thoughtcrime’. Winston Smith is a Party worker – part of the vast social caste known as the Outer Party, the rank and file of the sprawling apparatus of government. Winston works in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth – the section charged with modifying historical news archives for consistency. When by chance Winston uncovers incontrovertible proof that the Party is lying, he embarks on a journey of self-questioning. In doing so, he becomes a thought-criminal. Winston begins to notice that a young Party member, Julia, is watching him. She wears the distinctive sash of the ultra-zealous Anti League and Winston fears that she is an informant. However, to his surprise, she reveals herself as a subversive and they embark on an illicit and dangerous relationship. This prompts Winston to explore deeper the blur between propaganda and reality. Ultimately, it leads him to O’Brien – a member of the Inner Party who sets Winston on an irreversible course of discovery.

” The eye of the storm” günümüzde kolluk güçlerince kameranın kullanım amaç ve şekillerini afişe eden, eylemlerde kameraların hangi özelliklere, ayrıntılara (tümü örtülmüş bir bedende bilekten çıkmış bir dövme, gözlük, pantalon, kemer, gözlük) odaklandığını kolluk kamera görüntüleri ile ortaya koyuyor.

belgesel vasıtası ile plaza medyaları tarafından “provakatör” olarak lanse edilen insanların aslında sadece eylemde aktif rol alan ve demokratik taleplerini duyurmaya çalışan insanlar olduğu görülüyor.

Eye of the Storm uses video footage shot by the police to confirm how the police target citizens engaged in constitutionally protected acts of protest for harassment, assault, and arrest. The police, by their own admission, assault law-abiding protesters without provocation then lie about being provoked. These lies were carried and repeated ad-nauseum by the corporate media without any regard for the truth. The corporate media is shown being complicit in, and even supportive of, flagrant police misconduct. Those perceived as “leaders” by the police are often singled out for surveillance, assault, and arrest regardless of the fact that those individuals have broken no laws and committed no crimes. The police kept this footage despite laws prohibiting the collection of information on individuals engaged in political dissent. The police stated that activist video footage only told one “side” of the story, now everyone can see the other “side”.
